MS2/Extra 2.0 beta 14 (20071020)
Here is beta 14.
Changes in this release.
- Fixed new bug I introduced in the last beta that would have broken nearly all wasted spark trigger wheel installs.
Used karlo's comments to improve "twin trigger"
- Input 1 now fires coil A, input 2 fires coil B. (They were swapped.)
- Make even-fire work (stray code in the source)
- Improve syncing (new variable added)
Find it at:

The changes I made are only for "twin trigger" ignition mode. Before the changes I could often lose sync on the bench and not regain it. RPM would drop to zero despite the tach signal looking fine. This change does not impact any other wheel modes.Xtatic wrote:so faster syncing will mean quicker starts? (less cranking needed? )

Would this affect me with a 36-1 crank wheel and a 1 per rev cam wheel? If so, I am anxious to try it out.

You don't run "twin trigger" mode - this typically for bikes that have a single lobe on the crank and two VR sensors. It only works for 4cyl wasted spark.Keithg wrote:Would this affect me with a 36-1 crank wheel and a 1 per rev cam wheel? If so, I am anxious to try it out.
However, I have changed the settings somewhat that will affect "trigger wheel" mode with the "dual wheel" setting. Since the last beta you need to specify how often the cam signal happens - your will be specified as cam.

Your IAC problems might have been settings related.UnaClocker wrote:Beta14 works for me. You didn't break anything that I'm using. (I'm not using IAC control anymore)
I was messing with the settings yesterday (finally got around to wiring a stepper up to my board), and I was noticing some interesting behavior depending on the "always-on" setting as well as some of the other settings.

So this new firmware allows my car to start and run for about 5 seconds. After that running conditions get progressively worse and worse. The car seems to start running leaner and leaner to the point it stalls out on its own. Backfires through intake, possibly it is timing that is causing this aswell. This happens within 30 seconds of starting. Didn't have time to datalog, the car is my DD and needed to get going.
Turning the car off and starting it again the cycle starts over. Runs for 5 seconds normally then goes downhill quickly... I reflashed to beta8 and all issues were resolved.

I doubt retune would help this. I flashed the beta 14 firmware and rebuilt my cars config exactly from scratch by going through every setting. The car ran great for 5 seconds and got progressively worse. No way this is a VE problem!
I'd LOVE to post datalogs and MSQ's although the site says I've exceeded the 1MB quota limit even though the MSQ is a mere 45 KB....

Nothing you have said leads me to believe this is not a VE problem. In fact, there was a known problem in beta 8 that would almost definitely cause you to have to retune AND would probably cause the behavior you're seeing.
Basically, with certain configurations, your VE would've ended up being half what it should've been because of a bug. Now that the bug is fixed, you'll have to retune fuel. What you're probably seeing is that it starts, then runs while ASE is active, then as soon as ASE goes away, it stops running.

So if you need to cut it in half to go TO Beta 8, wouldn't he be wanting to double his req fuel number? And messing with the req fuel in MS2E is going to screw with your cranking pulsewidths.. They are percentage based, off the Req Fuel number (a brilliant improvement, BTW..), so screwing with ReqFuel is going to screw with starting in general..

I was only suggesting it as a way to quickly test the problem. I know my car ran at least decent with that change.
