Whereas in MS2 B&G you can trim it. Is this easy to re-introduce?
And i would still like to clarify if I should be using rising or falling edge. My input circuit is as it was when running ms1-e, using phils diagram. (V2 PCB)

The MS1 chip is always falling edge on the interrupt pin.
I'll take a look at permitting a little bit of trim when using EDIS. As you've guessed it isn't difficult.

I would of thought a max of plus or minus 5 degrees should do it - otherwise the limp mode could be compromised.

I noticed that on the Extra site, wiring of the tach input is different to what B&G recommends.
Extra, straps the tach input of the hall circuit to 12V and then connects the "ground" side of the circuit (XG1 ) to the PIP signal via Tach input pin, whereas B&G jumpers XG1 and 2 (earthing it) and then connects PIP to the Opto-in jumper.
Would this not cause the input trigger to be inverted for Extra which in turn would require the output signal to be inverted, or somesuch?

From MSnEDIS days before the MS2 existed we had success with using the EDIS module to sink current by tieing the "top" of the hall sensor to 12v.
I've seen reports of problems with the wiring the other way - same for HEI7.
Consequently we've stuck to the original known good wiring.

Well, this (using EDIS to sink current) might explain two things:
1) Why I found that I had to make R12 4K7 to prevent the PIP signal from being pulled down;
2) Why the B&G EDIS documentation had been incorrect for some time ito how the settings should be for EDIS. With settings as per the documentation as it was then, my SAW signal co-incided with the rising edge of the PIP signal and not the falling edge as it should be.
