MS2/Extra 2.0 beta 21 (20080210)

Post by muythaibxr »

New this Beta:

- Changed frequency selection code for PWM idle, new behavior is as such:

Valve Frequency is now a number... the actual frequency is 30.5 Hz * that number...

Frequency options now include:

Setting: 1, Frequency 30.5 Hz, Accuracy 0.4% duty
Setting: 2, Frequency 61 Hz, Accuracy 0.8% duty
Setting: 3, Frequency 91.5 Hz, Accuracy 1.2% duty

And so on up to a max of

Setting: 8, Frequency 244 Hz, Accuracy 3.2% duty.

These frequency options are available for warmup only, and for PWM closed loop

- Changed closed-loop idle so that it now has the ability to use the extra PWM resolution.

I was unable to find any changes from James this time, but if there are, he'll list them as well.

The closed-loop changes will probably break IAC closed loop, so that'll be fixed in the 2.0-RC1 release I plan on doing later this week.

This beta can be found here:

Excellent,

I hope to try some of these new frequency settings. Got a honda B18 with a cold air intake on it. The PWM idle motor is the loudest part of the car, so much so that the car is currrently nick named "HOOVER" for the vacuum cleaner sound that eminates from the intake.

Heh... was it like that even at 156 Hz or whatever it was before?

If you are refering to the idle motor sound, I don't know what frequency Acura runs the idle motor at but it was quiet with the stock ECM. (Even with a cold air intake in place)

I would like to know what that frequency is and my wifes 93 Integra GSR is stock with B17 engine and factory ECM in place. I am going to have to scope it and see. Likely I will find that it is a frequency that will not allow resonable resolution within the confines of megasquirt.

Fixed it for you :-)

The Honda idle motor runs fine (no sound) with MSExtra I on 400 Hz. The resolution is not very good but it's fine.

I've scoped a Honda IAC valve once and can confirm their frequency that the stock ECU uses is around 400 Hz.

Same with my miata, even all the way past the intercooler, turbo, 3" open exhaust and all that, the IAC is easily the loudest sound coming from the car near idle. I'll be glad to try it out.

Matt, do you know any way to either log faster, or extend burst mode past 1 second? I don't mind logging less data (I can with without 80-90% of the data sent) but I would like to get 100 hz recordings if possible.

wierd - my bosch idle valve is quiet at either 78/156 hz. I think the stock motronic ECU drives it somewhere around 60-78hz.

It really depends on the valve. Most of the valves I use want to be at 100Hz or higher.

I didn't log that through MegaTune - for checking stock IAC valves, we use an oscilloscope.

Sounds like you need to use the .bat file that comes with the release.

Is there a sticky about this yet?

I still think it should be in bold in every beta/release threads first post.

Might save more than a few hassles for users and also for those helping them out :-)

hope that helps :-)
