MS2/Extra alpha 3.0.3u released

Post by muythaibxr »

Changed in this release are:

2010-04-15 JSM
Update Makefile.DOS for interp.s and crc32.s

2010-04-17 JB
Updated clt and mat inc files to extend range beyond 215F
Marked 'md95' issue as fixed in TODO

2010-04-29 JSM
Backport Nissan QR25DE wheel tweaks.

2010-05-06 KWC
Merge back fixes for PWM and IAC crank->run taper from ms3.

2010-05-16 KWC
Merge back fixes for CL idle getting stuck when RPM goes above max RPM.

2010-05-18 KWC
Somehow page9 got too big. Fix it (And probably a whole bunch of odd issues
along with it).

2010-05-20 KWC
Backport type B PID change from ms3 for boost control. Should track
changes in target better now.

The release can be found here:

Boost control users should keep in mind that they will have to retune their boost control settings.

The ini format hasn't changed and it is the same for 3.0.3s, 3.0.3t and 3.0.3u. So the project doesn't need updating when upgrading between these 3 releases.

this is my first shot at extra code, and my first shot with boost control, but i've had the car runninig b&g code for 3 years so i have a general idea what i'm doing

anyway, if i set the bottom left cell of my boost control table to 0 rpm 0 tps, then set the whole table to 50%, it should actuate the valve even at idle correct? my solenoid valve is doing nothing at all... anyone have any suggestions? it is wired to PT2 via the IAC2A pin, pin 27

the guy who modded the MS for me suggested that i need to enable output pin PT7 in order for the boost control to work. when i do this it goes into config conflict mode.

am i missing something here? i can post an msq if needed

Boost control is only active above 100kPa.

Oi! Ok, that just threw a massive wrench into my EXUP control plans... I've been planning on using the Open Loop boost control table as a TPS vs RPM duty table; the PWM signal from the boost control would drive a servo controller.

This is the first I've seen / heard that it doesn't work below 100kPa...

Edit - although if I do figure out how to read the code, it should be fairly straightforward to change that threshold to 1 kPa, yes?

EditEdit - I just found the boost control code ( :yeah!: ), and unless I'm reading this wrong, it's only closed loop that's inactive below 100% 'load'?
Temporarily shut down - back soon!

Yeah, open loop is always active.

If the valve isn't doing anything, either you didn't reboot the MS after setting the pin to use, or it's not wired up properly, or you're not using the correct frequency.

should open loop be running the valve with the key on and engine off as well?

Probably not no. I think it only comes on after you start the engine.

thank you for the info, i'll play with it some more this evening. worst case scenario i guess i could have a dead valve, but it's a brand new unit from DIY. sorry about the thread clutter!

This version still don't work for Ducati engine ( V90° 2 cyl ,270°oddfire small angle)
on trigger wheel setting I need to set 325° tooth 1, but the code every time go crazy!!!
if i set 345° and with the little arrow up down I move to 325 all work fine but when i hit burn
the advance come back!!!!
at the moment i fix by setting 345° and add 20° on all spark table

We haven't looked at your issue yet. Before I can try it I'll have write a new wheel mode for the JimStim as 48-2 is unusual.

Hi.
Updated a few days ago. Works flawlessly on a 4.cyl NAS with 60-2 trigger.
I had very occasional hickups with the last firmware. They seem to have gone now...
Ok, I am driving a very unproblematic setup, just wanted to give feedback that it seems to work better now :-)
Thomas
P.S.: As written in another thread, a MAT-based ASE to my eyes would be great for testing. Further more a ASE taper like in MS1extra would be interesting, i.e. hold a constant value for a moment and then ramp down. (Ok, my engine seems very picky concerning ASE at cold engine, but probably this idea would improve cold/hot start for other people as well).
However....thanks for the great work guys!

I think I solved my problem, I'll know for sure later this evening. There is an error in the MS pinout diagram on DIYautotune's website here:
http://www.diyautotune.com/images/produ ... pinout.gif

Take note of the IAC pins.

Now reference the megamanual here:
http://www.megamanual.com/ms2/spare.htm

 Looks like I should be using pin 29, not 27... I'll be correcting the wiring harness tonight, hopefully I'll be in business!

i started the car up this morning, along with tunerstudio... it gave me a difference report in which a bunch of functions i never use (greyed out, disabled) were filled with gibberish. not sure if this is a TS issue or a code issue. unfortunatley i was in the process of leaving for work, so i didnt think to grab a screen shot, i just burned the "Good" settings from TS and went on my way.

if it happens again i'll get more information... sorry to be so vauge :(
