Received one on Friday. I'll try to take a look at it this coming week.

The throttle is a somewhat complicated piece of kit with nice failsafes built in.

The motor can actually close the throttle from the "rest" position - does it actually ever do that, or is it opening only?

Yes, the ECU can close the throttle plate in order to stall the engine, as I've told by a Bosch ECU mapper, in the case of a engine overtemp.
In the rest position, the engine idles at -+900rpm.

I'm currently only using from "rest" to fully closed as a work around. On my motor with a completely clean throttle body, cold idle without A/C on is about 1100-1200 rpms at the "rest" position. Hot this increases to 1300-1400rpms. With A/C on idle is 800-850 cold at rest 950-1100 hot. I have tried using the valve normally (rest is "closed" and open the blade with increasing PWM DC%) but the fact that TPS rises with it, going into closed loop can be hit or miss at best and rpms tend to be erratic (1200-4000rpms!)

Any updates on this James? It would be best if MS could drive it directly, but a driverbox would also be useful. It could potentially be used with other standalone.

I'd be pretty keen on a PCB / Kit for this.

I too would be interested in a controller for this.

I've had a look and was thinking about working on an extension to what's already been posted that could also be used to control non-spring loaded bike secondary throttles.

I would also love a possibility to control the idle :)

A servo controller like piubrazil posted is what's needed to control this idle valve correctly.

Back to Top with this Old Thread.

i search a lot here to found a Way to Controll the Idle System of the VR6 OBD2 / ABA Throttle. I read that someone Switch the Cables and Run inverted or with a Extra H-Bridge Board. My Question is what is the Best Solution for it and have anyone a Schematic of the Board. Find this old Thread about it but with no End.

Thanks for all Help.

It can be made to work "ok" by inverting it. There are a few of us that have been using it that way. The control board schematics are lost atm, no one seems to have saved it.

Inverted Mode dont work for me. Switch the Cables and the Idle Control is not Adjustable. Run MS2 and tested all PWM HZ Settings. I Think the Only Way is a H Bridge.

Do you get any movement? These throttles are prone to sticking from pcv engine oil. Probably worth a good cleaning.

It moves but the adjustment is the Problem. Throttle open is not the problem but to close it need higher percentage jumps. For example I can open it in 5% steps but to close it need 20% for 3-5% throttle.

With it set up this way you can only move it on the open side, not closed. Generally this gives a 900rpm hot idle on a vr6 which is fine.

Ok. But for me this is not Adjustable. I think the best way is to Drive it with a Servocontroller. No one have done this here ??
