MS2/Extra pre-3.4 alpha 1 released
To announce the release of "MS2/Extra Pre 3.4 alpha 1" - this is a new stream of development codes derived from 3.3.2 beta4
EDIT: ETA on this 3.4.x code becoming release is 6-12 months.
Who should use this code?
Experienced users wanting to test the new features.
Who should not use this code?
New or casual users - please use the current release code instead - see the Downloads page linked above.
Main changes since 3.3.2 beta 4
Bug fixes:
Handle another impossible tooth count with config error.
Microsquirt module reports correct config error text for PT6/7 conflict.
New / enhanced features:
User defined CAN broadcast test packet.
Add CAN outpc broadcasting for dashes/loggers etc.
There are no boost changes at this time. Once there has been more testing and feedback on the changes in MS3, they will most likely be applied to MS2/Extra also.
The zip can be downloaded from:
http://www.msextra.com/doc/ms2extra/fil ... alpha1.zip
The latest beta TunerStudio is required from : http://www.efianalytics.com/TunerStudio/beta/

Re: MS2/Extra pre-3.4 alpha 1 released
any chance of adding in injector phasing for a single tooth pick up for a single cylinder? the batch fire phasing works okay but having more flexibility across the load rpm table would be great.
thanks ryan

Re: MS2/Extra pre-3.4 alpha 1 released
If you mean adding sequential injection, that is not very likely to happen. That would require a completely new method of dealing with all the constraints of sequential injection. The main issues that need to be handled are when duty cycle goes over 100% and when the start of the injection pulse goes from before the trigger to after the trigger (or vice versa).
Dealing with those without over fueling or under fueling is not trivial. With the current code, it requires more than 2 teeth.

Re: MS2/Extra pre-3.4 alpha 1 released
Guess I'm not looking for sequential fuel and spark. I was thinking for the single and twin 2 stroke motors and the few 4 stroke twins which spark and squirt every turn anyway. I've played with the batch fire angle which has given good results in evening out the cylinders. some like to run fatter than the other then swap and run leaner. could a simple 6 point curve for angle verse rpm be added to produce the same results as a 12x12 phasing table?
thanks ryan
just dawned on me its a percentage not angle. I can solve the angle by knowing the btdc trigger input angle.

Re: MS2/Extra pre-3.4 alpha 1 released
Loaded 3.4 in new ecu, it alerts me that there is a mismatch in amap_table1 and amap_table2 units, and in ts i see INVALID as units instead of kpa. A typo in the ini?

This is already fixed for the next release, but thanks for mentioning it.

Re: MS2/Extra pre-3.4 alpha 1 released
Hi James...
I have to say Awesome work!!.. and to the rest of the coding "Gods" out there working on the code.
I would like to inquire as to the possibility of adding into the boost controller stuff the following option....
A Timed Overboost... ie. A settable time for which the Boost controller will allow a settable value of "Over Boost" pressure (say + 6psi or what ever) according to say for instance above 80-90% tps, that when the time period expires reverts back to standard boost levels...
I hope you get what I am trying to explain...?
This would be a really nifty feature...
Kindest Regards
Gordon.

Re: MS2/Extra pre-3.4 alpha 1 released
Gordon,
Is this to account for boost spike?
If so, is that the best way to handle it?
Seems to me you want to eliminate the spike rather than temporarily adjust the max boost to a higher value.

Re: MS2/Extra pre-3.4 alpha 1 released
I'm not Gordon, but I think he wants some sort of feature that could be used for a short burst - a drag pass or passing on a racetrack - but would then back down the boost to a more sustainable level to avoid heat buildup. Some of the turbo Chrysler K-cars had this feature from the factory.

Re: MS2/Extra pre-3.4 alpha 1 released
Perhaps a general question regarding to the code development process, but is there a correlation between e.g. the "MS2/Extra pre-3.4 alpha 1" and "MS2/Extra pre-3.3.2 beta 1 to 6" -versions and especially the bugs/fixes etc?

Re: MS2/Extra pre-3.4 alpha 1 released
3.3.x is now in "stable" mode and will gain bug-fixes only.
pre-3.4 is in development mode and will share the same bug-fixes but also new development.
A new alpha is due with the latest changes that went into pre-3.3.2beta6

Re: MS2/Extra pre-3.4 alpha 1 released
Hi there,
all 3.3.x are not working for me.
( http://www.msextra.com/forums/viewtopic ... 32#p396933 )
Feels still like a rev limiter at about 1300 rpm.
Regards
Uli
EDIT: found a solution: http://www.msextra.com/forums/viewtopic ... 29#p397629

On 3.4 i can't get work the afr target 1 gauge on ts. Seem that is stuck at one fixed value.
Interesting the "overshot" boost idea. Several oem cars have it. It allow a faster spool and a short peak of torque.

Re: R: MS2/Extra pre-3.4 alpha 1 released
If you're using MS with an electronic boost controller and closed-loop control tuned correctly, it should prevent the waste-gate from "seeing" boost (and subsequently opening and slowing boost pressure rise time) until you're close to your target, so it'll spool up just as fast regardless of a higher boost target. I do like the idea of it for OEM-style performance, especially in terms of limiting the heat the engine sees.masterx81 wrote: Interesting the "overshot" boost idea. Several oem cars have it. I'm not able to set values on "Fuel Settings - Injector Dead-time/PWM" for the Bank 2: it stays grayed out despite "Different bank settings" is set to [On] or [Off]?
Thanks-

Re: MS2/Extra pre-3.4 alpha 1 released
Why would you want EGO control at 28 lbs of boost pressure? A false sensor reading that sends your fuelling a little too lean and you've got a nice paper-weight under your hood in no time flat.

It seems to work for me? Best post in the TunerStudio sub-section.Buelliholic wrote:I'm not able to set values on "Fuel Settings - Injector Dead-time/PWM" for the Bank 2: it stays grayed out despite "Different bank settings" is set to [On] or [Off]?Thanks
EDIT: later testing showed that there was a problem, now fixed for the next release.
