It's in the manual.

I just downloaded the pdf and looked thru the Web manual and didn't see the diagrams in the ignition section. Am I missing something? I may just be hungry and tired but I didn't see it anywhere.

Ok I found it in the base manual not the ms3x manual. I'm guessing the best way to go is not use the msx output and use the spark outs?

Section 5.3.1.3 Logic spark outputs - FET driver method, p. 76 for the description, schematic on the next.

Are you using a MS3 or MS2? Do you have the MS3X card?

Yes I have the ms3x been running it several years with pnp drivers. But I started with ms1 on this car and skipped Ms2. Tried the Ms2 but due to difference in trigger setup I didn't actually get running until ms3

Hi!

This thread has several options for circuits for the PNP booster, but I can't keep up with you :P

Can anyone please refer to at schematics that works, so I can order the right transistors? I run MS3X and want to use the vag coils. Planning to bulid a small external box to put the drivers inside.

I have PCBs if you want to buy one.

Will the MS3X board be updated with the TC4427 elements ?

That's entirely up to B&G, the nice people who actually own the design, and sell the assembled cards to the various distributors. There are a number of "opportunities for improvement" that have been noted over the past few years, and it's due for a rev2.

Is it possible to drive a BIP 373 ignition driver through TC4427 chip?

MS3X uses a similar output chip for ignition outputs and can drive the BIP chips.

Yes, the TC outputs can be used to drive a BIP.

Does anybody build and sell a PNP driver "external box" ready to wire in? Kind of a Quadspark style.

I will be using MS3X and Audi COPs (NGK U5014).

Thanks,

Get an MS3Pro instead of the 3X and you can use the VAG coils without an external driver box

Excuse my ignorance...

Why will a MS3Pro will drive the coils and not a MS3X? (both directly)

Because the MS3-Pro uses a different circuit and was designed to be able to drive these coils.

Thanks for the explanation.

The problem I have is that I already have the MS3X (with Mapdaddy and knock control). :? :? :?

So the alternative is via external box.. I can solder and follow wiring diagrams, but building a circuit...(as of now beyond my abilities).

Go with the TC4427. There really is no circuit building, just one 8-pin IC and two resistors per two channels. Take a look at section 5.3.1.3 of the MS3 manual; the actual diagram is on the following page.

Let me see:

I buy some stripboard, 15 ohms 1/4 resistors then

And then build this (attached image)

I know the soldering is far perfect
please if you catch any error, let me know....

I am going to tap into 5V of the TPSREF and tap into any MS grounds.
