MS2/Extra pre-3.3.2 beta 6 released
To announce the release of pre-3.3.2 beta 6.
Given up waiting any feedback on the significant change in pre-3.3.2 beta1 which was a change to the "Toothed wheel" decoder for oddfire and odd cylinder count engines.
Main changes since pre-3.3.2 beta 5
Bug fixes:
Mask interrupts during AC and testmode pinsetting.
retrieve config error and crctable serial commands added to ini
Fix staging transition "saw-tooth" issue.
Add config error checking for A/C output pin.
New/changed features:
Enable PDF help.
Minor/internal:
config error 72 text was missing
Use TS generated CLT, MAT GM calibrations.
Correct bitmask on tacho option.
Default values for AC port pointers.
The biggie here is "Mask interrupts during AC and testmode pinsetting" - this should resolve the issue the small number of AC users have reported with tacho drops or misfires. The A/C output code was over-writing the "LED" outputs - ouch!
PLEASE READ THE RELEASE-NOTES.txt
The zip can be downloaded from:
http://www.msextra.com/doc/ms2extra/fil ... 2beta6.zip
Please read the RELEASE-NOTES.txt
Beta TunerStudio version 2.5.18 or later is required.

Re: MS2/Extra pre-3.3.2 beta 6 released
Aside from the important bugfix, the other item I'm most keen on hearing about is this:
I expect that with TS 2.5.18 it will be handled automatically.
James
With TS 2.5.17 you need to manually create a "docs" directory within TunerStudioProjects BEFORE clicking on the help. You only need to do this once.I expect that with TS 2.5.18 it will be handled automatically.

In time that will be great, but be aware that the linked manual is presently a draft. An updated version is due soon, so it might be better to wait until that is released.Manu wrote:Hi James,I will have a look on this and maybe translate ;-)jsmcortina wrote:Enable PDF help.

Re: MS2/Extra pre-3.3.2 beta 6 released
Something is going wrong here; whether it's TS, the ini, or a PEBKAC malfunction has yet to be determined. I downloaded the latest TS beta last night as well as this MS beta, and while trying to create a new project got the same errors again and again, in all three ini versions. Screenshots attached; let me know if other info is needed.

Note that in order to get to this point, I had to go into my 3.3.2 beta 5 project and select ITS dashboard, otherwise I think it would have sat there until the batteries on my desktop computer went flat ...QuadraMAP Sensor Module -- PWM-to-Stepper Controller -- Dual Coil Driver

Re: MS2/Extra pre-3.3.2 beta 6 released
I just made a fresh project with TS 2.5.17 and MS2 3.3.2 b5, and had no issues. That suggests it's not TS or PEBKAC.

Still exists on this Beta release... Under Output IO testmode "LED15/SprkC and LED16/SprkB" test output is swapped...!

A simple ini change fixes this.

Re: MS2/Extra pre-3.3.2 beta 6 released
when enabled as AC clutch, Output port reporting on "IAC1" doesn't register correctly on tunerstudio processor PIN "PT6" constantly in ON state...

Re: MS2/Extra pre-3.3.2 beta 6 released
PT6 is constantly on because that's how you have programmed it in the programmable on/off outputs - it is on at power-on and then turns off above 4000RPM.slyrye wrote:when enabled as AC clutch, Output port reporting on "IAC1" doesn't register correctly on tunerstudio processor PIN "PT6" constantly in ON state...
The MS2 card has PT6 and PT7 transposed compared to the Microsquirt. So PT6 is IAC2. Try the I/O test.

Re: MS2/Extra pre-3.3.2 beta 6 released
I loaded beta6 up in the Miata and re-enabled AC Idleup Output. I didn't notice any problems with the tach in my quick shakedown, although I'll give it a more thorough test this week.

Re: MS2/Extra pre-3.3.2 beta 6 released
James, I'm sorry for the late, but I have just closed the engine and made some changes on the MS2, because of the lost sync trouble while cranking.jsmcortina wrote: Given up waiting any feedback on the significant change in pre-3.3.2 beta1 which was a change to the "Toothed wheel" decoder for oddfire and odd cylinder count engines.
I've finally pulled out a tooth to have a 36-2 wheel and now the flywheel is also balanced.
I've changed the VR conditioner with a MAX9926 circuit.
I also changed ignition and injection drivers with bip373 and vnp5n07, so I need to find the new dead time for injectors.
I have tried on the bench this new firmware at various RPMs with CrankWheelPulser and all seems ok.
Tomorrow I will do some logs to check crank&cam, tooth, and composite, but only during cranking (without fuel injectors now).
I would like to confirm that all is fine about "Toothed wheel" decoder, so how can I find something wrong? What I exactly must do?
Thank you.

Re: MS2/Extra pre-3.3.2 beta 6 released
Updated to TS 2.5.18, downloaded a fresh copy of this zip - still same errors. I've created a fresh project with 3.3.2b5 and 3.4a1 since I first reported this problem, so it's sounds to me like there's something in the .ini that's causing something to go weird.

Same here as well, creating new project is impossible with this firmware, but upgrading from existing project somehow works fine...!

James the schematics tells differently it says "PT6" is IAC1 and "PT7" is IAC2jsmcortina wrote:PT6 is constantly on because that's how you have programmed it in the programmable on/off outputs - it is on at power-on and then turns off above 4000RPM.slyrye wrote:when enabled as AC clutch, Output port reporting on "IAC1" doesn't register correctly on tunerstudio processor PIN "PT6" constantly in ON state...

I have checked the processor pin connections continuity with IAC1 and IAC2 and confirmed that the schematics are pretty much very consistent...

Re: MS2/Extra pre-3.3.2 beta 6 released
i'm about to test this release but I need to make some minor changes, these have been done with
no problem for several releases but this time I get some strange behavior during compile
If I compile it with no changes it works ok (cygwin w64)
If I change this in ms2_extra_init.c:
89: adctest = 0; (new)
165: //pPTApin0 = &dummyReg; (mask existing)
166: DDRAD |= 0x40; // enable pin AD06 as digital output (new)
167: adctest |= 0x40; (new)
377: // adctest = 0; (mask existing)
() is of course not written in the actual code
during compile I get this error:
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
If I remove "//" at row 377 compiling works ok.
If i try recompile existing 3.3.1 with the same mods it works ok
(this is not all code mods but I have tried to narrow it down)
Suggestions very welcome.
