CLT Based Rev Limit feature request

Post by esso »

to be honest , the way around is much better to be done

when engine become very hot the rev limit should be decreased like any other ECU that have saftey for rev limit.
considering in drift cars the driver always hit the limiter as they drift but too much limiter can cause CLT increase so fast so its better to limit the rev whenever the CLT increase
this feature is in MOTEC, HALTECH, LINK, VIPEC
this is what in LINK ECU

and this is what i do in MS but it dont work that good

Splitting topic as your post is a feature request.

What changes do you think should be made?

if clt based is enabled the hard rev limit box is disabled and the hard limit value will be obtained from the table depend on the engine CLT , the soft limit zone still remain the same .
as for the TPS bypass and rpm options , i think they are useless as in CLT based the main concern is the Engine not to run with the car in case of emergency ( Useless code ) , im thinking to have option to add in the list box not only CLT but to chose from auxiliary input ( people could use oil temp/EGT/...etc) .
as for in the spark retard mode when selecting fixed angle : its limited to -10 only , it suppose to be more than -45 ( 45deg ATDC) to have the bangbang rev limiter (flame in the exhaust )

in the code of spark cut is the cut effect constant or adaptive ???? this is very important .

As I said before, the way it is coded now was how customers requested it to be coded.

The idea of the rev limiter feature is to limit revs, it hasn't been designed as a flame show.
in the code of spark cut is the cut effect constant or adaptive ???? this is very important .
The rev limiter uses a sliding scale of spark cut between the "soft" and "hard" limits.

not a flame show but to not lose power as rev limit can make turbo stop spool if it is retarded that much turbo will remain spooling

Not a good idea to have 100 rpm in your 110*C bin as you have above, you dont want the motor to stop if it is hot.
Id set it to at least 1500-2000 rpm so you can at least drive it somewhere out of the way if it overheats, and also allow it to cool (stopping an overheated engine is bad for it)

If you are banging of the rev limiter then you probably aren't having any problems with turbo lag.
