Smart design and good fuel/ignition correction.

Post by elior77 »

I learn a lot from the Haltech software, (just the software, no ecu).

They use some logical and smart options for correction, they use CLT and MAT correction for fuel and for ignition.
Very useful I think

Lets see:
Fuel MAT corr = MAT air density table (?)
Fuel CLT corr = WUE (?)

Ignition MAT corr = MAT based timing retard (?)
Ignition CLT corr = Cold advance (?)

If so, there is a little redesign is in order, I think renaming those to fuel/ign mat/clt corr would be good.
And place them under fuel and ign menus respectively.

They use cold and warm settings for idle, two different sets of configuration, very useful too.

Let me see if I can find something like that:

Cold idle = Crank duty(?), closed loop target rpm (?), closed loop init value based on mat/clt (?)
Warm idle = Crank duty (?), closed loop target rpm (?), closed loop init value based on mat/clt (?)
AC idle up is incorporated in those menus too.

The menus are very well ordered.

I think MS can implement some of Haltech design/methods very easily.

Just a thought...

Tunerstudio is indeed a bit aged. We would need trees instead of dropdown menu and different maps on tabs for example. With this, Tunerstudio should switch from ini system to xml. Maybe there is a standard which allows using a Menu-design tool for re-organization.

MS3 already does this. Check the MAT/CLT correction blend table.

Section 8.13 tunerstudio reference manual.

I am not sure what you are actually asking for? It sounds like it simply is naming/menus and not physical capability. Understand that I can look at 15 different ECU's, and all of them will name/present various features and functions very differently. Which one of these dozens of naming conventions is "right?"

If all my(?) are correct then yes, only naming/menus - very impotent and much easier to use.

If not all my (?) are correct then maybe some options are missing.
