Loading MS2 firmware on blank CPU. Help?

Hi there,

My first post here and first real problem with my MS2 v3.57... I suspect after a bad jumpstart it fried my CPU "hasn't started since", everyting else measures fine but no serial connection.
Voltages, Resistors, Caps, Inductors everything measures up good.

Since this isn't my first rodeo with the heatgun and soldering, i replaced the motorola "freescale" chip no problems "I thought".

Handy to have i thought. Loaded the bootstrap.s19 to my cpu via BDM, but no response when trying to use the download-MS2-firmware.bat


Anything I'm missing or doing wrong here?

Do you think you need the serial monitor loaded first? If I understand correctly the only item needed is the serial monitor loaded through the BDM port. Then the bootloader and firmware can load through the TTL UART pins.

I've read up alot on this the last days. The understanding i got from all this is that i need the MS2 specific serial monitor uploaded via BDM. I have tried the HCS12 monitor from frescale, but i get an error when trying to load the firmware. I saw one of the admins on this forum uploaded it a couple of years ago, but he took it down again because of rights and so on.

Anyone have the monitor file ready for upload that i can borrow?

You should beable to us the standard one from freescale. My MS2 board is 7 years old. Im sure it was loaded with what ever serial monitor was avaiable way back then. I've progressed through 1.2 firmware to 3.4.1 with out any issues.

Hmm, strange.

Step 1 - Load HCS12_Serial_Monitor.sx "HCS12" monitor via BDM
Step 2 - Start MS2 downloader 2.0 via seial, read signature, no connection.. "BLD jumper connected"

Next try

Step 1 - Load Monitor_v3.108.abs.s19 via BDM
Step 2 - Start MS2 downloader 2.0 via serial "BLD jumper connected", read signature, Signature: "** V3.10Embedded Code by B&G **"
Step 3 - Load megasquirt2.s19 via serial with MS2 downloader, ERROR: Unknown error status response, e=0x56


I get the same results when using both MS2 downloader, download-MS2-firmware.bat or ms2loader_win32.exe...
Trying with both firmware 2.1.0e and 3.3.3...

Probably best to send it to a distributor/repairer and have them re-load the correct monitor.
