GM 7X Sequential and COP

Post by Huey »

Is there any chance sequential fuel injection and COP will be supported when using GM 7X along with the cam input ? I also see improvements in the code for MS3 when running GM 7X, any chance that will get back ported?

Thanks, Huey

Just my $0.02 but knowing the timing issues with the GM 7x - your going to need to move to MS3 to get it. The exhaust VVT cam wheel required a dedicated timing routine. This is based on the LL8 4200 engine.

Is the engine your running?

How about me emailing you the MSQ file so you can review it ? I'm running the 2 original coils as wasted spark and drive them directly with the MS2.

Huey,

Would you be willing to post your current MSQ? I'm getting ready to convert a 1.9 DOHC Saturn to MS2/Extra and would really appreciate seeing some known-good settings. I believe this engine uses the 7x signal.

thanks,

Here you go. The lower end of the timing table is set to -10 degrees due to me using a GM HEI module as a VR conditioner. It to looses sync during cranking and the -10 setting keeps it from kicking back so hard. I have the correct hardware and will change it sometime. The engine is a 1998 Chevy Malibu 2.4L LD9 on a rail buggy and runs great. It is running on MS2 Extra pre-3.4.3 beta1.

When you say using a GM HEI module as a VR conditioner, are you saying like a 4 pin dizzy application HEI module?

Why wouldn't you use the VR conditioner in the MS?

There should be no reason that it should lose sync during cranking. You either have a hardware set up issue or maybe losing voltage (losing lots) during cranking, but that voltage would need to drop REAL low for that to happen with a GM HEI module.

No VR conditioner circuit on the V2.2 PCB. I used what I had available at the time. I will revise it in the future.

Opto only on the V2.2? I've never used one, so I haven't really paid much attention to them.

You still shouldn't be losing sync at start though.
