CAN to 3rd party ECU

I know this is one of those "if you have to ask, you cant do it". But I will try anyway.
Has anyone tweeked the CAN in a microsquirt so the CAN works with a 3rd party ECU? Change CAN in Microsquirt to work with 3rd party device? I know it works to send to data loggers and dash but I need to get data to the Microsquirt. I think I saw a post on this when looking for something else but cant find it again.
I have the what is needed for the ECU and have help from experienced friends but and help is appropriated
