Injected velocity stacks for DHLA carbs?

Post by subwoofer »

Does anyone know if anyone makes this kind of velocity stack that would bolts straight onto DHLA carbs?

I am getting tired of the not-so-forgiving characteristics of carb operation, like loading up in traffic, stalling and not be able to start again, but for this particular car it has to be a rather stealthy install. I am thinking to hide the fuel rail and injectors in the airbox and use the Dell'Ortos as throttle bodies.

I have had a reply from DTAfast (where I found the illustration) that the illustrated air horn will fit DHLAs, they are however pricey (£71 each) and only available in one length - 125mm.

Anyone know of any other sources?

Is it ok to spray at a closed butterfly at idle like that?

Can you get generic airhorns and modify them?

Yes, most factory TBIs did that to improve atomization.

Of course I could, but that means fabrication... Then it will probably be easier to make it shower (Ducati) type, placing the injector in the centre of the horn just outside the opening. Like this:

I just nagged eightstack.com again for a DCOE version of their stealth TB. I'm not holding my breath.

I got a response from 8stack, they are now part of Borla and a DCOE version of their carb loak-alike throttle body is not on the agenda.

Time to seriously consider shower style...

And just when I thought all hope was lost, these guys turn up:

Hidden injectors, hidden TPS, machined from a DCOE casting. Somewhat pricey, ~£750 each - but including Bosch injectors (size unknown). I might just blow next years vacation budget on a pair of those.
