Using a gutted Holley 4bbl as a TBI?
I'd like to MS my Mustang, but I'm going for a psuedo-vintage look for that car, and a Holley carb would fit the bill nicely. I think I've heard of people turning Holleys into TBI units, and that's what I'd like to do for this car. I know Holley makes TBI units (too expensive for me), but I'd rather DIY with a broken Holley and some junkyard injectors from something like a Lincoln Navigator. I assume I'd have to also fit the Holley with a TPS? Have you heard of such a thing? Any ideas/links?
Thanks
Kyle

I too have a question about this. I’ve seen the link where someone gutted their carb, took off float bowls etc. Why couldn’t you leave the whole carb intact? As long as there is no fuel line connected and you fit a TPS I can’t see any issues. Of course I’m wrong about three times a day so that is why I’m asking here.

Holley carb as t/b
I am in a very similar situation. Are you sure you are talking about TBI, as in throttle body injection?
I am looking into port injection with my Holley carb acting as the throttle body, and I have finally fabricated a bracket and TPS to mount to it, but I do not use a choke.

How many of you have driven 300?

I converted a holley into a throttle body for port injection.

Try to find one with mechanical secondaries, otherwise you will need to make a linkage up like me.
Also consider the autonomics body, very cheap (although ive heard they have run out of them)

I too was talking about using the Holley as a throttle body for a port injection engine.

Thanks Eliot, yours was the page I looked at. Why remove all that stuff? It would look better (imho) with the metering plate and float bowls still intact.

This is what my Holley looks like after "cleaning". Going to be using it in a port injected Chevy. http://www.djupdalen.se/megasquirt1.htm

Couldn't you leave the vacuum secondaries hooked up ?
I would think they'd work as well as on a regular carb.
Small primaries for off idle drivability, secondaries open when needed.

I think it's more about keeping the intake velocity up to aid fuel mixing, which is less of (isn't) a problem with port injection.Unkl Ian wrote:Couldn't you leave the vacuum secondaries hooked up ?
