Help required for Ford 2.3 16V Turbo conversion

Post by Batesy »

Evening from the UK.
I am working on a turbo coversion of a Ford 2.3 16v I4 engine. I know it's in european vehicles like Ford Scorpio, MK5 Escort RS2000 (obviously slightly different), Ford Transit van LPG etc, US Merkur whatever it is. Can anybody help with require or possible Fuel Pump to rail delivery pressures and pump output flows generally required, rail pressure regulators possible part numbers and specs of Injectors, impedence etc I would need. I have a load of bits that I have accumulated and am just trying to figure out what are usefuk and what can be ebayed.
I have not really decided or investigated yet what level of boost I would eventually be running, but saying that MS and the stock map sensor really cap that to nothing more than 1.5 Bar or 20PSI to the colonials. Sorry for the dated empire jokes  .
I have a set of injectors and rail that came from the original NA engine but will I assume be of little use.

Any help much welcome. Up the colonies

Hi!
I'm building Zetec Turbo. As far as I know RS2000 use sidefeed injectors - don't know about 2300. But if they are sidefeed too and you want to keep stock fuel rail then you must find some bigger injectors that fit in stock fuel rail - like i did.
Here some info:

Nissan injectors are soo cheap at Ebay! I got mine for 30!
If thats not your way, then put some Cosworth injectors.

Stock fuel presure regulator will be good for may be 1-1,2 Bar boost. If that is not up to your requirments then again Cossie one will help. Fuel pump too.

Cheers.

Hi
I have two stock fuel rails, 1 that cam from the engine in its orignal form Ie an Transit LPG engine, and 1 from and MK5 Escort RS2000. I will probaly not be running much more than a bar boost so will try those first. I have quite a few different fuel pumps . I have the original tank mounted version in the fuel sender. and a couple of Bosch inline pumps of varying flows and pressure. As you say There is also Cossie Turbo bits to fall back on.
What Nissan injectors fit you're fuel rail. Ill have a look on Ebay see whats going. What car are you building. Mines a Locost 7.

Hi!
You didn't follow the topic in the link!

Nissan 200SX(S14 SR20DET) injectors - 375 cc/min.

Take a look here:

Hot Ebay stuff:

I'm not sure about skyline injectors, but they are bargain.
Also can take a try with some Scooby injectors - they seems to fit too.
