Ford PWM Idle Valve 1N14001 Diode or factory Diode

Just a quick question

When upgrading to a TIP122 setup for the ford idle valve, it specifies
a 1N14001 diode across the valve.

Most ford factory harnesses have a protection diode across the valve from
factory.

Would it be suitable to use the factory diode instead of the 1N14001 diode???

The factory diode should be fine.
