Can anyone recommend a glue that is resistant to gasoline?

Post by 73Inka2002 »

I need to glue the electrical connector on a fuel pump back in place. A number of sealants claim to be fuel resistant but I'm not sure they would survive if subjected to direct contact with gasoline. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Robert

Try Araldite.
Not sure if that is available globally. It is a two part resin type adhesive (I forget the correct technical term)

That gas tank patching resin is designed to patch holes in gas tanks... I assume it will stand up!

IIRC Araldite is the name of the French ? company that makes the glue James is talking about, the trade name of this glue is EPOXY and it´s fuel resistent. Just make sure the parts are as clean as possible before you put the glue on them.

And for gosh sake, make SURE you've got the parts where you want them before you epoxy them together. That stuff is hard to get off once it cures.

I've found that the "gel" type epoxy is easier to work with than standard epoxy

Dow corning 730 silicon sealant.
I had the head of a 10mm bolt glued to a round piece of aluminium in a jar of petrol for over 12 months and it was still intact.
Not cheap tho.
