Please confirm EDIS4 & MS-II Wiring

Post by Mad Professor »

Hi All.

On monday I am placing my order to get my custom trigger wheel made.
I also have to make a order to get a VR bracket.

But in the mean time I am going to start wireing up the car ready to take the EDIS.

With the VR sensor do I

(a) Connect the VR sensor to the EDIS Module?
or
(b) Coneect the VR sensor to the MS-II Unit & only use PIP & SAW?

Thanks for your time.

Please confirm EDIS4 & MS-II Wiring

Before you start get the wiring diagram of the edis module. This will tell you how to wire it. MS needs only the pip and saw signals. Use shielded wires for this and the vr sensor. Also don't forget the CTO pin to drive your tacho.

I have already tested my Module & Coil using the by connecting the laptop to the VR input of the Module.

I have just found this on the MS-II v3 manual.

Now I am confused you say connect the VR sensor to the EDIS Module.
But the above pic clearly shows the VR sensor to the MS-II ECU.

The EDIS diagram is correct.

It's it's just best for me to stick with linking the VR sensor to the EDIS unit.

When using EDIS, the VR sensor MUST be connected to the EDIS module only. No ifs, no buts. Otherwise it will not work.

The wiring layout posted is a generic layout that could be used in a locked VR distributor setup with the internal VB921 driving a single coil. It does not reflect the EDIS wiring.

Witch jumper config do I have to use?
MegaManual

For the VR sensor:
Jumper VRIN to TACHSELECT on the bottom side of the PCB (near the DB37, opposite the heat sink.)
Jumper TSEL to VROUT (Or VROUTINV if you want the VR input to be inverted) on the bottom side of the PCB, near the center.
or
Ford EDIS Page

V3.0 main board:
DB37 pin #36 to the SAW pin (#3) on the ignition module
DB37 pin #24 to the PIP pin (#1) on the ignition module
On the V3.0 main board:
use the 'Hall sensor circuit' (step #50 in the assembly guide),
jumper OPTIN to TACHSELECT on the bottom side of the PCB, near the DB37 connector, opposite the heat sink,
jumper TSEL to OPTOUT on the bottom side of the PCB, near the center.
jumper JS10 to IGN (this uses the processor port for the SAW signal directly),
jumper XG1 to XG2 on the bottom side of the PCB, near the 40 pin socket,

You're setting up a V3.0 PCB with the MS-II processor. Use the instructions for that setup where the rest of the instructions are!

Here they are:
