Toyota 3 Wire PWM IAC doesn't act like the Bosch - ideas?

Post by jamesawooten »

Hi All,

The Nippondenso 3 wire PWM IAC valve that comes on 4AGE Silvertop Toyota motors does not react when wired up like the description of the Bosch units.

The Center wire goes to 12V, LH wire goes to ground thru 40 ohm 40W resistor, and the RH wire goes to Fidle on the MS with a 1N4001 diode connected with banded end to 12V for flyback.

All of the necessary mods have been made to the MS and Fidle is putting out the appropriate voltages.

So far I have tried swapping the LH and RH wires and going either to 0 V or 12V on the Fidle with no effect.

Has anyone successfully got one of these to work with MS?

See this thread:

Look for Mr. Saturn's post, where he has 3 different jpg files. Specifically look at this diagram:

Wow, Ken, Thanks!

Don't know how I missed that thread - I was searching every combination of names I could think of.....

Looks like I can remove the TIP122 and put back the stuff for the regular Fidle, build the circuit in the proto area on the V3.0 and go.

I don't suppose Radio Shack carries those IRF540s.........

It doesn't have to be a IRF540. They were just lying around when i made the circuit.
Current draw will be no more then about 1A. So any powerfet that can handle more then that should work fine. Or use an equivalent....
