Big Block Chevy Base Timing Table Availability

Post by 69 1/2 Six Pack Bee »

Does anyone have a generic base timing table for a mostly stock big block Chevy? I am looking for one that incorporates the old vacuum advance which is added into the calculation. I am trying to set up my 402/4-speed. I am using a TBI and running MS-II and using the 8-pin HEI.
I have it running well enough now using the base table that was burned into the code.
I remember that in stock form it had trouble keeping quiet (pinging) with an 8degree base timing, 18 degrees in the distributor and the 20 more that the vacuum can added--46 total.
I tried the XLS. sheet in the "sticky" section but that was a bit too erratic. I was hoping to get something a little more copacetic to my application.
I am running 9:1 static C.R., a very mild towing cam with an engine redline of 5500. The cruise range is around 2600 RPM.

Thanx,
Bud
