Distributer Ignition HOW TO

I have been reading on the board for some time now and am lost on one aspect of the MS. I will be using MS-1 V2.2. Where I get lost is hooking up the Mega to controll ignition timing using a distributer. I have read all of http://megasquirt.sourceforge.net/extra/setup-msns.html and I still don't understand. I will be using the hall effect/optical option. How is it done. I dont know if I am just making it harder than it actually is or if I just have not found exactally the info that I need. Thanks

Werner and I have done it for optical off of the distributor, works great.
