Injector fuel delivery

Post by 65looter »

This might be a funny stupid question but here it goes,
Can I deliver the fuel to the injectors without using a fuel rail? Using fuel lines directly on top of them? Is it possible?

Thanks for your time.

Sure - millions of cars from VW's to Cadillacs are/were driving around with the original Bosch rubber hose injectors - the same as today's but with a barbed inlet for pushed-on hose. You must use FI rated hose and fittings with a sound design. MSD and others make top-feed fittings to take flex line such as http://msdignition.com/fuel_9.htm.

Keep in-mind there are issues to consider such as a common feed point for fuel, pressure regulation, fuel heating in the branch lines, etc. Also, most racing organizations limit the amount of rubber line you can use in your engine compartment, although certified braided SS line sometimes qualifies. Check any rules you need to comply with.

High pressure fuel shooting around in your car is a fast way to ruin your day - make it safe!

Yes. There are a couple places that make the hardware to do that. It has been discussed here a few times in the past. You can probably dig up the old posts using the search.

EDIT - David you beat me by a minute!
