Double fuel injection set up / Keihin injector sizing

Post by jeeptoylander »

Hi All, :D
The following are pure newbie question, but I just would like to start fine.
I intend to convert a Rover V8, running on Edelbrok 500cfm carb and Tartarini LPG gaz injection to MS V3/MSII using the latest code. At first the mod will be applied on the 3,5 Ltr (215 Ci) and once everytning will work including the EDIS 8 I will swap the engine to a brand new 4 Ltr (250 Ci)
Question :
1 / I would like to know if the dual pole switch, one pole for the fuel table switch and one for the ignition (using the NOS switch) could work at the same flick or do I have to operate separatly. I intend to wire the fuel table switch as describe in the MSnS-E ww site.
2 / I intend to use LPG Keihin injectors. Fuel injector on chanel 1 and LPG on 2. These injectors are 1,2 Hom, and I wonder if 8 low impednce on one channel could be handled by the V3. The fuel injector are the Lucas high impedence cleaned and matched.
3 / If Mitsuko is around, my LPG set up is based on the Tartarini LPG injection system, I want to get rid off the actual dual stepper flow control and ECU. I have two constant pressure regulator and I just want to be sure if I must connect the vent port of them to the MAP manifold shared by MS.
4 / Last one, regarding the sizing of the LPG injectors, how to evaluate the size of them. Mitsuko, I have the same kind of dealer you have, willing to help and order spares for me... but I would like the first one to be the good one (orange dot or yellow dot ??, I will use 8 in two Prins style frame bolted on my plenum just near by actual injection points in order to optimise the ruber hose length)

Thanks to all.
Sorry if I did the things wrong for the first post.

Aha , another lpg squirter .

Table switching for dual fuel works fine .
Switch fuels and ignition maps on the fly without the engine even noticing it .
But you'll need an extra relay to siwtch power to both injectorbanks .
I'm using a single pole switch on my dash wich operates both the table switching and the power switching relay .

8 keihins on a single channel . I really don't know if it's possible or not .Each injector needs 4 amp peak , 1,5 hold current .
Injectors are 1,2 Ohms , 25mH .
I intend to use separate peak and hold drivers for each injector .

A suitable regulator should produce about 4 bar over map .
Remeber the vacuum reducers don't work with injection setups .
The outlet of both vaporisers should go to your fuel rail .
Best way is to feed the rail on both ends , each with a vaporisor . .
Never use one vaporisor to feed one bank end the other to feed the second one . No two vaporisers will ever produce exact thesame pressure . Tie both fuel rails together with a balance line abt thesame size as your feed lines .

The reducers have a vacuum reference just like a petrol fpr .
These go to the manifold , as does the ms mapsensor .

The orange dots are good for about 40 Hp / inj .
The yellow ones rougly 50 hp . On an NA engine .
These are reasonable estimations by me , NOT facts !!

Ask your dealer to get the connectors to or maybe he has an old wiring harness you can snip them off . It's a funny shaped connector , and nothing from bosch or amp or whatever seems to fit .

Make absolutely sure to use the filter unit from prins .
It's a 3 micron filter with replacable cartridges . Expensive , but farr less then new injectors .

Good luck

Pat

BTW , I'm still in the market for one used orange dot injector .
I have four , but my engine has five cilinders . :D

Double fuel injection set up/Keihin injector sizing -Part II

Pat, :D
I was hoping you were around... ahah

"But you'll need an extra relay to siwtch power to both injectorbanks.

I was intending to switch 5V only to the JS9, I will need two poles to get the 12V to close the coil of the relay !!! True ?? This relay will open the fuel line 1 and close the LPG line 2 and this way I can get the fuel pump continuing circulating fuel ?? is that the idea ???

What is the exact set up ??? Do you mind to detail further the wiring and component references !!! as I am already lost.. :(

A suitable .... Tie both fuel rails together with a balance line abt thesame size as your feed lines . That is already the case and I intend to keep the same setting for the injection, only the connection to the stepper will fly away...

OK, that's was my plan.

I ask also the LPG specialist what is the Prins recomandation for the Rover V8, either 3,9Lt and 4.2Ltr, as I will be just around I will see. Anyhow the orange shall be OK.

Ask your dealer to get the connectors to or maybe he has an old wiring harness you can snip them off . It's a funny shaped connector , and nothing from bosch or amp or whatever seems to fit . Already done.. as I saw the stuff on the bench and can not figure out the connector. Thanks anyhow.

the guy already mention that as absolute mandatory. Will do, no pb.

Good luck,
