Ford TFI Ignition - how to interface with?

Post by glenneaux »

Hey guys,

I've got an aussie Ford. Trying to hook up my MSII (v3 board) to the TFI signal.

One thing to note is, I need to share the ignition signal with the ford EEC-IV and at this stage i'm just looking at getting the MSII reading everything.

When i hook it up normally, the MSII gets a good signal while the EEC loses it and falls into ignition retard mode, other times i've just had intermittent things. Quite annoying!

Has anyone else done this? I've just had lots of trouble with the thing and its holding me back.

I think that the problem that you are having is the same that I had with my MSI v2.2 You will need to put a 3.8k ohm resistor inline with the MS tach signal. This is so that the majority of the signal strength goes to the EEC, hopefully this should work for you. I have an EL so mine is an EEC-V not an EEC-IV

Cheers
