Having paused work on my daughterboard for the moment I was considering just going ahead with the piggyback idea for fueling for the time being. But then i struck a problem. I'm fitting it to a 3sgte which has a flapper AFM for fuelling (which i was obviously trying to remove). If I remove this will the stock ECU have no idea about engine load and thus not be able to set the timing correctly?

Piggyback / timing issue

If you are retaining the ECU to control Ignition Timing ,
Yes ,
you must keep the Flapper in place .
You can still use MS with the Flapper in place but it does create some
air flow restriction .
