Sequential Coil-on-plug Crank/Cam Pickups

Post by NissanBoy »

I have read carefully all the MSNSe ( http://megasquirt.sourceforge.net/extra ... wheel.html ) and i am still confused about how can Ms figure out a proper ignition timing with a 4/1 wheel using 2 sensor

Im really into the nissan scene where CKP/CMP sensors are optical unit running on 360/4 holes disk , since i want to run coil on plugs i know i have to add extra hardware on the ms and load the proper code form msnse

Basicly i would like to know if MS would decode my stock ckp/cmp or if i would have to make a wheel like this : Image

but i can't figure out how can MS can give an exact timing if there is only 4 slots on a disk. It anticipates when -10deg(or whatever timing it's supose to give a Xrpm and X load) is gonna come and just triggers the spark ? :?

Excuse my ignorance but i am kinda noob in this domain, i searched the whole ignition forum and haven't found much detailed how to on sequential COP so i am asking the question here :?

of course im talking of a MS1 with V3.0 board running msnse

The code isn't designed to support the OEM 360 tooth wheel, so something like that picture is required. Yes the CPU calculates when to spark and it works.

Short answer: a computer, timers and some maths.

the odd slot closer to the center of the wheel is where the ecm gets #1 cyl identification.the outer 4 slots are for each cylinder.the optical sensor actually has 2 led's inside.my ms fires with a hall sensor and magnets in the flywheel.
