MS2 v3 with edis4 losing rpm signal(solved)

Post by Pagemo »

I need help! I am using MS2 v3 and edis4 code is v2.36. works fine on the stim but when I try starting the car I get a quick pulse of 120 rpm then no signal? if I continue to try and crank no other rpm signal is seen until I turn off the key to power down then try to restart and I will get the pulse of 110 to 120 then nothing?
How can I check the edis module? or does it sound like something else. I have re checked the wiring and confirmed both the module and the coil are getting 12V.

Are you getting spark?
The EDIS module will spark with no intervention from the Megasquirt. No spark means a problem with the EDIS wiring (or less likely the module.)

The most frequent problem is VR sensor wires the wrong way around.

Reversed sensor wires...

I just posted the fix to the the exact same problem. Reverse the sensor wires, sure fixed my problems. The engine has never run better.

Thanks for the info I will check both but I have not checked for spark at the plug.. I assumed if I was not getting a rpm signal there would be no spark.
I will check the VR sensor wires, is there a polarity or just try and reverse them?

EDIS is a standalone ignition controller so you need to get that working on its own before you can expect any rpm signal in the Megasquirt.
Test for spark and if there is none swap the VR wires and test again.

If still no spark you need to re-check all of you wiring and make sure the coils and EDIS module are getting 12v during cranking.
