COP vs. wasted spark

Post by Ferret »

Hi,
I've been reading a lot of posts by people trying to implement a COP setup. It got me wondring, what is the advantage of COP compared to a wasted spark system? Other than the possibility for individual cylinder ignition tuning (which MS doesn't support), it seems to me that wasted spark is just as good (and much easier to implement).
Can anyone enlighten me?

Avner.

COP can potentially provide a stronger spark due to the individual coils having more time available for dwell, particularly at higher RPMs. Where a wasted spark coil pack has to fire multiple times per revolution, COPs fire once per rev.
