So where are excel attachments for table generation?
I asked a while ago and got no response - i cannot see the excel attachments for table generation... someone link me to a working one?
This one will create the basic ignition map of the original mechanical distributor if you know the amount of mechanical and vacuum advance. The data in it is for a 4 cylinder MGB

woah.... Werner..you're running 47° of advance on your
B!!!?? I though 36 was about the safe max f or the cam
in our b-series engines. Or are the numbers in the s.s.
scrambled or not totally realistic??? My own curves are
not nearly as advanced on my '73 BGT. which model dist ar
those numbers for?

The beauty of MS is that I can simulate any distributor including the older pre emission distributors with ported vacuum.
This is from the older distributors. Note the 47 deg is under vacuum. The numbers are the recommended for mechanical advance and vacuum from "How to power tune MGB 4-cylinder engines" by Peter Burgess. The max advance for mechanical advance he recommends is 34 degrees @ 3000 rpm. (20 + 14)
"... 20º maximum at around 3000 rpm, ... static timing of 14 degrees at idle... For road use it is best to retain a vacuum advance ... with similar characteristics to the chrome bumber type is best. " I used 13 degrees max. for vacuum.

he he... yep... I realized how stupid my comment was
...just after I sent it. I had only glanced at the s.s.
and saw the table with 47 in the lower right corner...
thinking your generated table was setting 47 'aditional'
to initial timing .
yep... Burgess's book is a great reference for this type
of stuff. I too run the earlier curves on my L headed (IE
high compression head) '73 BGT. IT will probably be my
next FI project now that the Spit6 is complete. I figure
my daily driver should get as much attenetion as the
Spitfire does. I'll have to add this project to the
teglerizer F.I. pages of the site as well.

Re: So where are excel attachments for table generation?
Ok but back to the original question there were like 4 or so example excel files in the stick about initial timing map with things like boost and what not, and now they're all gone!

I just pulled down the s.s. copy directly from the email
link in Werner's post earlier in this thread. Other than
that...I'm not sure which s.s. you're talking about.
Go to the Forums site proper, and back peddle through the
thread and look for Werner's link to his s.s. on his
website.

Paul,
There were some additional Excel spread sheets under this sticky forum:
http://www.msefi.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=9941
However the spread sheets are gone. Probably due to the last virus attack.
Jon,
I'm sure Lance has seen this thread and is looking to restore the files. It may take a bit of time. The data under the above thread (not a spread sheet) will allow you to create the ignition table for any engine.
Possibly after someone who has the Excel spread sheet sees this post they will create a link to it. At this time, the best I can tell, no one can attach a file to a post. Lance is working on that.
