testing edis module

Post by ranchero »

Hay there all

Simple question about testing a Edis8 module.
Do i need PIP or SAW connected to test this modules?
For now i'm having an edis module on the testbench without pip an saw connected and get no spark with an ordinary coil.
Din't use edis coilpacs becose i wont be using them at all. I want to use single coils instead, 8 of them. Do i need the same Ohm valiuwe as the edis coils or may it be more? Lets say 7 ohm instead of 3 or something like that.

Thanks

Testing EDIS

Post by Heribert »

Hi
You can manage totally without connections to 1,2 and 3 ( PIP , tach output and SAW)
Running non-standard coils might be a challenge .
EDIS coil packs have a primary resistance of 0,51 ohms appr and inductance of 7,5 mH appr.
And there is circuitry inside EDIS that monitors the switching current , that is why you must use resistor plugs for EDIS .
The monitoring circuit closes down EDIS when readins are off .
My suggestion is that you get hold of a standard coil and try the EDIS in original setup , make sure it works OK and then try to invent your own coil style .
Best regards
