can you describe the problem ? like what rpms do you expect and what do you see, and whether it is all the time, or just sometimes (when), etc, etc...

so you are basically saying that your rev counter shows only half of actual rpm's ?
are you using EIDS by any chance ?
if yes, there is a special way to connect rev counter (via tacho driver pin), search manual and forums.

Problem with rev counter shows only half of actual rpm's is caused by incorrect instrument cluster
Yesterday I changed my instrument cluster because faulty temp gauge and RPM's become half of actual rpm's.
Car is Orion 1.4 CVH, now with 1.8 Zetec Turbo. Using old CVH instrument cluster everything is fine even with Zetec engine. Then swaped cluster from donor car (where was my Zetec) and RPM's was low. Now i'm using old CVH cluster, just swaped fuel/temp gauge over.

Re: rev counter probs
i was under the impression that you needed the efi tacho which is the one thats must be fitted in your motor?!? i am currently building a zetec turbo for my escort rs turbo and using ms without edis and am totally unsure which tacho to use so have bought one of each in the hopw one works, but i do keep thinking of getting a spa dash which are programable to different signal inputs but this would be an expensive solution.16vzetec.com wrote:i have got a mk4 escort xr3i efi with 2.0l zetec engine fitted+ megasquirt.

not much help but worth noting the escort efi dash is different from the other cars so might be worth trying an rs turbo dash??
