DIY TBI

Post by harry_2495 »

Hi all,

I am thinking about building a TBI setup to replace a 34ICH weber carb.

I just wanted to check that my thinking was correct before going any further.

My plan is to make an adapter that will replace the carb, allow the fitting of a throttlebody from a similar sized engine (2.3L) and have the ports for injectors.

So would this work?

Also would 1 injector do or would I need 2?

Thanks in advance

Your plan is fine. Generally, you want to replace a carb with a TBI that has the same number of barrels as what you're removing, and each barrel generally has one injector, although two is okay as well.

There are many OEM TBI's set-up with injectors, built-in fuel pressure regulators and throttle position sensors available at most boneyards. Just look for one that is most suitable for adapting to your installation. One of those froma similarly sized engine is relatively cheap and may save some fabrication time and money.
