Dead coil but measured to be 100%?

Post by hobieboy »

I'm puzzled - one of my coils is not working. When I use it, the car won't run.

Took it off. Measure the inductance, primary & secondary resistance. Everything is in spec.

How can a coil measures ok but doesn't work?

Hi Hobieboy
Yeah funny things coils.
Cans of oiled paper that borrow voltage
then give it back in a big rush ,,hehehe
Substitution being the best test process I feel.
Lots to do with back emf and magnetic flux ,
static tests can not effectivly show us health
or performance breakdown issues hidden inside.
Buy a pair of good high quality replacements and
you wont look back .
I've just fitted a new Bosch gt40rt to my car
to put my 8mm leads to goodwork
(got to love that good aussie Bosch gear.)
Ms1 v2.2 board, Running Mt 2.25 fuel only .Squirting my 308ci powered 76 LX Torana with Mustang 5.0HO injectors and Dry 600cfm Holley carb throttle body. Have a look ?http://www.msefi.com/viewtopic.php?t=19937
