1987 Porsche 944 N/A
Microsquirt v2.0 w/ 2.87x code
Wasted spark VW COP's, later logic-level driven model (L to R revisions).

Microsquirt v2.0 has the option (2 internal jumpers) to send logic-level spark outputs which seem to be working great with the VW COPs (200 miles so far with no problems). I wired them directly to the appropriate pins on the output of the Microsquirt.

The only thing I added was 0.01uF caps between the signal and ground wires of the coil signal outputs. These Caps seem to have effectively eliminated a tach dropout I was getting at only 3200 RPM ( I could rev above but the car bucked bad at that specific RPM only).

These COPs were a great solution for me as they seem to be playing very well with the Microsquirt's logic-level outputs- no needed added circuitry to the Microsquirt!

The ones off Fuel Injected GSXR 600, 750, 1000 and 1300 have 1.5 ohm primary, and spark well with 2.5-2.8 ms of dwell. Looking at the connector on the COP, the 1st terminal is (-), the 2nd terminal is (+).
Hi I have some Denso 2 wire cops( Numbers on top 129700 - 3440 10344 10 S 27) so how can I tell if they are CDI, and if the F/Inj type how do I test the Primary resistance, I have MS1 V3 Extra, and I have wired them up as per the MS1 Extra Manual with 4 IGBT drivers and 660R but when I connected to car it just melted my driver wires, so will have to start all over again, so any help appreciated, I have previousally used Ford Coilpack and also used VW 4 wire cop's with 5V pullup and again no problem, Regards DM

V3 MS2 Extra 3.0.3u IAW Weber Marelli, Cosworth Escort
I have been driving these same COP's for two weeks now and have been very happy with these. But I got exactly the same tach dropout ast you RobH at 2500rpm it's only random not always. Any lower or higher RPM works perfectly and I made the sync loss go away with tach rejection filter. Now MS2 doesn't lose sync but still studders sometimes at 2500rpm

I'll have to try these caps too if I get rid of the noise.
Did you use the 2N4033 pull up connection to drive the coils or what?

VW 1.8l Type4 swapped into a VW Squareback, MS2 on a v1.01 board, w/external driver box for Jeans 4 channel PWM board and 4 ignition drivers. (Sequential fuel and spark)

Originally ran HD Twincam coils, later added 5v pullups to the outputs of the ig drivers and wired in LS2 coils.
Pico injectors are from the marine (AKA Jetski) version of a Yamaha R1.

Using modified Vanagon hall effect distributor for sync, and the "crank wheel" is the flywheel, using the 6 "vent" holes that line up with the pressure plate bolts for "teeth", VR fits in a plastic bushing that plugs into an existing access hole in the case for Tq converter bolt access that just happens to line up perfectly. (6/1 setup)

JAW1.03 for WBO2.

Works great, daily long distance commuter. Zero issues swapping over to the LS2 coils, either, even took the same HD $3 plug wires.

are those coil CDI coils or you used direct coil drive setup to operate them.
is it ZX6 coils or ZX6R coils
could you post a part number for those coils PLEASE?

I have two CBR600's running COP wasted spark, if that counts, using stock hardware other than timing pickup.

Running Toyota 1NZ COPs from a Toyota Yaris/Echo on a Toyota 20V 4age "Silvertop" engine.

Burnt out a pair of them using Going High "Inverted" with the LED ignition outputs on a MS2extra LED ignition outputs -- Make sure you figure out if your setup requires GOING HIGH or GOING LOW before running your engine!

Specs:

1NZ cops
MS2 on V3 board using 2n4033 logic level drivers with 5V PNP drive
Cranking Dwell = 3.5
Max Dwell = 1.9

Running for 7000km for the past 2 months with no problems!

Should have posted this at the beginning of the year...

Toyota 4AGE 20V Silvertop
1ZZFE COP's setup for sequential spark
DIYPNP v1.5 using logic spark outputs

Going High (Inverted)
Cranking Dwell = 6.0
Max Dwell = 3.0

Done 3000+km so far without a problem.

Running Holden Alloytec COP's that are manufactured by Bosch (Part No 0221604112). Perfect fit for the 4AGE :P. Dwell is 2.5ms running ok.

These should be fairly easy to find around many parts of Europe and the US??

Running Audi 4 wire coils, Bosch Part # 07K 905 715F. Running them through a NPN to PNP driver circuit, as these coils are less than 1000 ohms on the trigger (200 Ohms to be exact). They draw more power than the MS3X can supply. They work fine with MS3Pro however. Running them with the pinout as follows.

Pin 1 - Switched 12 volt
Pin 2 - Ground (to Cylinder Head)
Pin 3 - 5 volt trigger to MS
Pin 4 - Ground (to Cylinder Head)

These coils are very hot, and can ignite as lean as a 19:1 mixture. I run in the 17s on lean cruise, and can hit 45 MPG if i keep my foot out of the loud pedal.
