MS2
Outdated source is available for MS2/BG code and the current source is available for MS2/Extra
MS2X
What's that?
MS3
Source code for 1.0 release is planned to be released soon
MS3X
There is no micro-controller on the MS3X, so no source code exists.

Thank you very much James. I thought MS2X was the shorthand used for the 2 extra. and the 2 extra was a 2 running enhanced software.

Learning curve is a bit steep on this product.

One point of confusion on my part. "There is no micro-controller on the MS3X, so no source code exists." I though the MS3X (3 extra) was a version of the 3 with enhanced software. This whole product line has me confused. Yes, I have reviewed the comparison matrix.... but apparently I am still not getting something.

I don't use any shorthand. MS2/Extra is MS2/Extra.

The difference between MS3 and MS3X is shown here: http://www.ms3efi.com/product2.html

Has it been released? It looks like ms3-release-1.3.3a.zip comes without the source code.

(Sorry to revive an old thread, but that's what google finds for "megasquirt source code")

Latest that has been released is 1.3.2 here: http://www.msextra.com/forums/viewtopic ... 25&t=55011 with a patch to upgrade it to 1.3.3.

Are you a Megasquirt customer? Remember to respect the license terms.

To clarify, the MS3 source license specifies that you must be a customer to download/use the source, and you can only run the resulting code on a genuine MS3. If you are doing anything outside of this then you are in violation of the license.
Megasquirt is not for use on pollution controlled vehicles. Any advice I give is for off road use only.

What about downloading the source code before purchasing the product - would that be a violation of the license? I've read it and I am a bit confused.
This source code may only be used by owners of official Bowling and Grippo
"using for educational purposes" is also using. Am I in violation of the license if I have downloaded the code while not owning about MS hardware?

Without splitting hairs, the source code is provided for Megasquirt customers to allow them to learn about their product and customise the code if they so wish (for use on their Megasquirt.)
It is not provided so that third parties can pinch code ideas from it.

To add to the above.
I wouldn't have a problem with, say a dash manufacturing company looking at the source code to ensure that their complementary product can interoperate with Megasquirt.

However, I most certainly would have a problem with a competitor ECU developer reading up on the code.
