vw golf mk4 1.8 20v turbo

hi using a megasquirt v3 ecu on a vw golf 20v turbo engine have it all up and running on wasted spark and is fine but having problem trying to get the tacho / rev counter to work , what is the best way to get these to work thanks

Have you followed the instructions for tacho out in the manual?

If you have the 3X card installed the Tacho out _should_ work. If you don't have the 3X IAC1 or IAC2 _should_ work instead.

Tacho out from megasquirt (12V square waveform) will not work from 2000 and up vw clusters.

Blue connector pin #11 should be the rpm signal to the cluster, I tried to give 12v square signal (that work well on 1993 to 1999 vw's clusters) but not on Mk4.

I guess we need to talk with cluster over can-bus communication.

Use a cluster from an early mk4. 99 prod 2l works.

Sure but megasquirted vw will continue with MK5 or more. We are in the 2014 year, mk4 from 99.5 begin to be vintage lol

IT' will be apreciated If someone tell us how the vw cluster canbus work with ms3.

May have to do or pay someone for someone to cRe about the can clusters.

There was someone that got it working on an Audi that should be a good start.

Honestly I dont see many mk5 moving over until fsi control comes.
