Ford 5.0 windsor hints and tips?

Post by the_buster »

Hi,

I have ordered my MS3 with expansion and I will be installing it on my Ford 5.0. Can anyone give me some tips on the 302 Windsor? I am very keen to delete the MAF!

Thanks

If you're using the TFI ignition, there are a lot of tips here:

Why delete the MAF? The MS3 code works like a charm and makes for easy tuning once you understand how it works.
Might even get VEAL support soon!

Because my intake is 3 inch in diameter up to the throttle body but as it gets to where the MAF housing is, it shrinks down to an absolute joke of a size near 50mm. In my opinion nothing should be on or in that intake tube other than air. besides I'm buying a blower soon :D

Get a bigger MAF, they exist in sizes supporting 1000+ bhp...

Yeah I noticed that but I'm on a budget and would rather put the cash somewhere else. Or could someone explain in greater detail the benefits of a maf for tuning.

These are the Ford Cam sensors if you are going sequential injection and ignition.
I don't know which is the 5.0 sensor, but you can see the different diameter.
Use a Ford EDIS 36-1 trigger wheel and sensor.

For a low-buck solution to a higher flow MAF solution, take the sensing element from a smaller Bosch MAF and mount it in whatever size tube you want. Beware that a 65mm MAF flows more than enough for most applications, making it too large only kills resolution at idle and cruise. Bigger is not always better.

Yeah! Thanks I was looking for those :)

won't I still be able to run sequential with the TFI? I thought it was just like a dual trigger dizzy.
