Just curious why the DIY 12-1 CAS wheels are not 36-1?
Hey guys, just wondering why the DIY CAS wheels are not 36-1 or similar? http://www.diyautotune.com/catalog/54-m ... dd639aa14f
If they were 36-1, since they are running at Cam speed then could you not use the single input for full sequential and COP?

You can use those double 12-1 wheels for full sequential.

With only the inner ring?
as far as I could read in the manual you need to use the inner and outer ring and modify the MS for the second "cam" input? If the inner ring was 36-1 then couldnt you use just the inner ring? or is there a negative to doing it that way. Or did I miss something and you can use just the inner ring?

I have used single missing tooth wheel at Cam speed for full sequential.

You can achieve a faster sync with the 12-1 set up a 36-1(cas) while lets you run sequential with only one input depending on the position of the missing teeth when starting could need up to 2 crank rev to sync the 12-1 can sync as fast as 1 crank rev

Re: Just curious why the DIY 12-1 CAS wheels are not 36-1?
We are ignoring that it isn't 12-1, really, it is 24-2. Is the OP suggesting that it should be 72-2? Those would be pretty small windows in the wheel, if the number was tripled. Not impossible, but what would be the point? Slop in a dizzy/cam drive probably causes more timing scatter and inaccuracy than the lower "tooth count" on the wheel.

The wheel is effectively 12-1,12-1. The OP was suggesting just 36-1 (no repeat) that would allow full sequential with only one optical sensor being used.

Okay, got it now. I realized as I wrote last time that "24-2" wasn't quite the right way to describe it. (Maybe 12-1, 12-1?)

Agreed on the point about slop too.

Re: Just curious why the DIY 12-1 CAS wheels are not 36-1?
The idea behind the dual wheel arrangement was to take advantage of the MS2/Extra and MS3's Poll Level code to allow for syncing in one crank revolution instead of two.
