Pressure sensors for fuel/air/oil

Hi all,

Im using a few of these cheapie from ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Pressure-transd ... 0785454553
Im using 3, for oil pressure, fuel pressure and coolant pressure.
Looking at the reading ive been getting, they dont seem to be reliable.

Is anyone else having problems with these sensors?
Any suggestions for better quality sensors that arent $100+ ea?

I will gladly pay twice and three times the price to avoid the chinese knockoffs, they only seem to be trouble no matter what they are - ignition modules, coils, sensors, you name it.

The transducer you linked to are 30psi. Actual pressure is exceeding the Transducer limit.
Scroll to the bottom of the page there is calibrating info and other pressure ranges.
This link is for a 100 psi might work better for oil and fuel pressure.

Im not that stupid ;)
Im using a 30psi for coolant pressure, fuel & oil are identical but 100psi.

Are they vibration sensitive?
Both the oil & fuel pressure sensors are mounted on the head.

Did you calibrate them in Tuner Studio?

Yup.
They seem to get "stuck" at a value much less than the real value now and then.
For example, oil press sensor will read ~22psi for a few mins, before moving to the correct 55psi.
I do have a old school oil-filled gauge im comparing the values with.

Good to know these parts are not reliable. I purchased two of them myself.
Here is a oil pressure sensor on E-bay, appears to be a GM part. Don't know how high it reads, but might be able to use for fuel and coolant pressure.

I asked the eBay seller about the problem, and the new stainless version they are selling.

He said "the $24 version stainless steel is much reliable then brass version before.".
Who knows if they actually are, or if he just wants to sell more...

Im guessing that if its oil safe, it would be ok with fuels too?

I have a couple of the stainless version, but haven't put them on the car as yet.

If you want I could pressure cycle them attached to an air line for a bit, but I don't have the fittings on the engine for them to go into just yet.

Doing an E-bay search for fuel pressure sensor, turned up Diesel fuel pressure sensors, would they work.
Also turned up this generic fuel pressure sensor.

I have the stainless steel version also. Didn't notice the difference earlier.
Hay_Allen would be interested in test results you find, if you test them.

Perhaps try one of the Honeywell PX2 sensors.

I use a couple of older(?) MLH models on my car - one is 100psi for fuel, the other is 2000psi for nitrous - but they are nearly double the price.

12616646 turns up lots of hits. Looks like a good price for an OE quality 130psi (gauge) pressure sensor.

The GM part look like a simple pressure switch. The simply close or open at some set pressure => useless.

I'll buy the GM version to replace it, and report back.

Ive used both the brass and now the stainless version of the pressure sensors from EBay. They seem to work ok for me. The paperwork that came with mine said it should be within 2%. I'd like to add a temp sensor for fuel, (I have 2 Schedar valves in my fuel rail) but I only have 1 analog in left. Its the hard to get to one so that won't be happening anytime soon.

I've had the brass one fail where it read way off of what it should read. Also, the internal seals are absolute garbage. I have oil showing up in the connector all the time.
