doing research for Nissan CA18DET

Post by orava »

Hi everyone,

I've been interested in Megasquirt for years, but I've never used it. I'm trying to see if it would be a good fit for my Nissan CA18DET. It has been done before, and there's a writeup about it, but that writeup is several years old and I've heard Megasquirt is a lot different now.

So, I just have a couple of questions:

There is a plug n play Megasquirt ECU for the Nissan SR20DET, but I haven't seen one for my engine. Is it possible to run the stock sensors of my CA18DET on Megasquirt? In the past, you couldn't use the CAS and people used Ford Edis with a trigger wheel.

Is it possible to buy a base tune for this engine? I don't mind tweaking things a little, but I wouldn't know how to start from scratch.

Thanks

I know this engine doesn't get much love, but does anyone know where I can find an answer? Is there an MS expert I can contact, etc? Thanks.

What country are you in?

The stock CAS is supported by MS3 as "SR20"

Hi,

Thanks, that would save a lot of time and money. I'm in the US. I have the stock system running VPC (MAF delete). It works, but the components are getting old and like everyone I want more power.

Have you megasquirted a CA before?

Thanks
