BMW M20 B25 oil pressure and brake light

On my BMW E34 m20 powered sled the "Check Control" display in my VDO gauge cluster is reporting an "oil pressure sensor" and the brake light comes on during running .. I'll post my MSQ and log later I'm at work .. I thought I did it last night but I must have forgot to click send.

IF anyone has this or similar problems with Check Control some info will be appreciated..... The engine is sputtery and I need to work out the tune. so maybe that's the cause.

Neither of these sensors tie into the MegaSquirt.

Yeah I know but the way the engine is running is the reason for these alerts... or some missing control from the OEM DME just wondered if anyone else has seen this.

my e30 running without dme for years all check stuff working correct and even got the standard obc and economy meter playing nice with megasquirt.

Grom I'll probably be bugging you for info on that soon (economy meter, OBC).... So it sounds like it's not the DME but the way the engine is sputtering causing my warning lights...

Will post MSQ and datalog tonight...

yeah no worries, is it the oil pressure or oil level? have you had a chance to get the o2 sensor working ye?

Yeah I got my O2 and my IAC working .... on the IAC I had a wrong wire hooked up ... .. I took some good logs yesterday with 02 lambda data.. I'll post those in a few hours when I get home.. maybe then you can scope out my MSQ and tell me why you think the engine is sputtering... it sounds like it's a little off timing or some shite.

The message in the Check control is "Oil Pressure Sensor" the message doesn't come up with my regular motronic.

Also like I said the brake warning light comes on too... ..


How do you have your VDO Tach setup ? I need to do this too

im using the tacho output off the ms3x card with the pull up jumper installed works a treat.

yeah jp3 on the ms3x card, makes the output a 12v square wave on pin 26 of the ms3x card i just wired that to the tacho pin on the cluster and works on me e30.

*boom* MSQ and Data...why am I getting this sputtery s***... and why is it causing my hydraulic s*** to malfunction and give me oil pressure warning and brake pressure warning ..GRRRRRrrrr

If someone could please take a look I would be grateful.

you are running pretty rich there about 10-11 afr where its trying to tick over at the end of the log i aim for about 13.5-14 afr for tick over, and also you may want to turn off sensor checking under check engine light as you are throwing some error codes. if you look at the coolant temp at the end of the log your ecu decides there is a sensor fault and ignores the sensor the temp drops from 121 to 61 there.

What is tick over and where can I check the CEL's?

tick over is when the engine is idling. and you want the 'check engine light' under the can-bus / test mode tab
