trigger wheel fab

Post by keithiopian »

hello all, maybe not directly related to MS work so apologies for no msq or datalog, but I'm going the DIYEFI route on my '78 924, and luckily, I have access to a very sexy waterjet, and it would be very easy to fab my own trigger wheel. Does anyone have a recommendation for the best metal and coating/treatment to use? mild steel w/ cad-dichromate? bare alum? would love any thoughts on design as well. I'm sure I will have plenty of questions regarding tuning soon, but for now starting w/ just the hardware.

thanks in advance,
k

Because of minimum set up cost, any commercial coating / treatment is going to be expensive for a one off. I would suggest spray can painting.
There are those home powder coating kits.
Yes, Ferrous metal, 1/8 inch thick.
Can the trigger wheel be mounted to the back side of the harmonic dampener.
Other wise all the pullies will need to be space out to properly align.

thanks for the tips; is there strong advantage to the standard ferrous material and hall effect sensor setup over lightweight alum. and an optical sensor? Is it mostly a durability issue? Ease of install?

I hadn't spotted that.
