Their website says their ECUs are "based on Megasquirt 2" but there's no more information than that. Best to contact them directly.

Maybe it is then? Maybe the upgrade was just a 3 bar map sensor

Anyhow first question, the ECU had a USB-B port on it if I connect a Bluetooth dongel via a B-A converter will I be able to connect to the MS iOS app?

I think you should probably get your vendor to answer these questions. We don't know anything about their hardware.
Megasquirt is not for use on pollution controlled vehicles. Any advice I give is for off road use only.

Re: New user with boostmoneky D3 ecu (ms2)

Post by Marky_g »

right done some digging the ECU is based on MS2, it has a base map and is compatible with tuner studio

ive downloaded tuner studio just need to connect it up with that car

The base idle map is going to be no good for driving and it is going away to be mapped but is there anything i can do myself to check the fueling?

are there any beginners guides to mapping as it would be nice to get a better understanding of how it should work? ive done abit of searching but a search is only as good as the question you ask i suppose and im not finding much

Have you read the Megasquirt-2 Setting Up manual ?

I have looked at the manual but as my car already has the base map I'm not sure where I should start, the manufacturer of the ECU has designed it to be plug and play with the standard system so it's starts fine and idles fine, but I have a different turbo that has had the bleed valve set 1 bar of pressure

Not knowing enough and being largely impatient I'm taking it to someone to be mapped but it would be nice to get a better understanding so I know what I'm looking at should I have any issues

The tough part is you haven't really spelled out what you're trying to accomplish? You also haven't really told us anything about your setup.

If you're curious about what features your unit has that you can use, reading the manual is the best way to learn. Although the specific details of the hardware can make a difference, and you'd need to rely on the vendor for documentation on that.

If you're talking about tuning fuel/spark, that's an "art" that takes time to learn. The good news is it's not really Megasquirt specific so you can google terms like "engine fuel tuning" and get some info. There is an article that may help get you started and is Megasquirt-specific here: http://www.diyautotune.com/tech_article ... rt_ems.htm

I will say that not having a wideband O2 sensor makes tuning fuel a *lot* harder. A narrowband will tell you if it's richer or leaner than stoichiometric and if your target air-fuel ratio is stoichiometric, that's not much to go on. If your target is some number other than stoichiometric, the info from a narrowband is even less useful. You can get a wideband sensor ready to wire in and go from these guys for $125 http://www.14point7.com/products/sparta ... ntroller-2 and they work quite well.

It's only really possible to do a plug and play unit for a standard engine. Once you alter anything on that engine, it will require at least some additional tuning (remapping).

A base map usually means it will need tiuning.

There are two ways to do this. Learn about tuning an MS yourself - all the info is in the manual and free. But it does take time and effort to learn - same as anything else. Or take it to a tuner who knows your setup and has a rolling road. And expect to pay about the same as a new MS.
