Hello,
New old guy here. I have a MS1 that I purchased in 2003. I've played with it on the bench but have never actually tried to use it.
I have questions about it's capabilities, and have gotten overwhelmed with all the mod, daughter cards, etc.
The unit is 2.2 PCB, 3.0 firmware.
I have installed 029y4 firmware and have it communicating with TunerStudio.
In it's present state, what is it capable of doing?
I guess the better questions are:
Will Autotune work?
Water injection?
Boost control?
I have a Daytona Sensors WEGO that has a EGO OUT.
Will this work with the narrow band O2 input?
MS1, MS1/Extra, MS2. What is the difference between these designations?
Thank You in advance

Re: MS1/Extra
Ok, let me try a less naive approach.
MS/Xtra = MS1 w/new firmware?
MS 2 + MS1 with daughter card?
Do I need daughter card to use autotune, water injection, and boost control. I don't plan on using spark.
The engine is 82 CID V'Twin that is purpose built for turbo. I've ran it with a blow through Mikuni. It makes 133 HP, and I feel it's at least 30 HP short.
I had to have piston rings made as no one has a Hi-Po ring pack for 3 1/2 bore. The Hasting X pack didn't like 13 psi boost. It's presently going back together. I plan to break it in again with the carb, but really want to inject it.
I have sorted through the manuals until I'm confused.
Thank You in advance

Re: MS1/Extra
Your on the right track. The MS has a main board V2.2 is older, V3.0 is current and V3.57 is the smd version of V3.0. From there there are plug in processors. MS1, MS2 or MS3. MS1 extra is a firmware for the MS1 processor. They don't make the MS1 processor anymore so it is on it's way to obsolete. The Auto tune is actually a feature of the tuning software Tuner Studio. It can work with any of the MS processors as long as you have a wide band hooked up and the tuning device is connected.
Find the Manuals up top under Quick links: Manuals.

Re: MS1/Extra
We used lots of these in 2003.
In practice, it's 13 years old, would you use a 13 year old laptop today?
You could... but personally I wouldn't bother.
A V3+ board and MS2 or MS3 (preferably) chip is well worth the money.
