EFI Conversion Cleveland V8
Hello guys,
I've got a 1981 F100 with a 302/351 Cleveland engine in it, at the moment its carby but I'm looking at converting to EFI.
At first I'd like to start off with just getting ignition working, I'm considering going a coil near plug setup, maybe LS2/Truck coil per cylinder, I will need to obtain camshaft and crankshaft position, I have found a supplier who makes a dual sync distributor which they claim will give me camshaft and crankshaft position:

This seems to be much easier than having a 36-1 wheel mounted to my crankshaft pulley, would this setup be compatible with MS3?
Thanks much

It's compatible, but not as accurate as a crank trigger.

460USD? You can get a lot more accuracy for a lot less $ using a real crank wheel... don't start out with an expensive compromise!

A lot of the Fords with EDIS ignition used a 36-1 front pulley. Might be able to find one that would work with your 302.

What's a 302/351? Did you build a Clevor or???

302 Cleveland and 351 Cleveland blocks are identical. I think that is what the op is describing. 302 Cleveland was a very common engine in Australia.

Its either a 302 or a 351 Cleveland, I haven't measured stroke.Raymond_B wrote:What's a 302/351? Did you build a Clevor or???
But it certainly is a Cleveland engine.
I'm going to go with the 36-1 wheel, once thats sorted I'll run EDIS in the interim I think.

Ford sold them here for many years. Then they stopped selling them at dealers, but people continued to import them and convert them to LHD. I have seen 2 today already. 1 from mid 80's and another that was more modern, early 2000's. Quite a few Chevy trucks and some Dodge rams getting around town too.

Up until the 1980s they built a variant of the F series in Brisbane, they have a few differences between the American variant and our local one which makes it very hard and expensive to source parts for, the plant closed down in the 1990s, then we imported the F250/350 from Brazil from 2001-2006 (1999 USA superduty), then the Brazil plant stopped producing F series and we lost them.Laminar wrote:How'd you get an F-Series truck in Australia??
Anyway I've ordered a 36-1 trigger wheel and I'm in talks about buying one of these manifolds:

I'm running a MegaJolt / EDIS currently on my Clevo. Next is MS.
