New User: 2JZ M3

Post by 2JZE36M3 »

Hello,

I am new to the forum, but not new to Megasquirt. I had a MS1 v3.0 in my '96 Probe GT and '95 Probe GT. I also had a MS2 v3.0 in my '95 Probe GT. I have been using Megasquirt for ~10 years now (though I am just now really spending the time to learn it as we built/wired my M3). I have been very fortunate to have a friend locally that is an electronics wiz and Jordan guiding us throughout the years!

We have recently fired up my 1995 M3 for the first time with its freshly built 10:1 2JZGE-T. The current setup on the car is as follows:

Wiseco 10:1 pistons/Eagle rods .225" pins/ARP 3/8" bolts
BC Valvetrain
ARP Headstuds
Stock 2JZGE head gasket
Modified generic exhaust manifold (twin scroll)
Tial MVR44 / 50mm BOV
Custom Front Facing Intake Manifold
FID 1200s
Walbro 450 fuel Pump
3" IC Piping
4.5" Intercooler core
Aeromotive AFPR
BW S366 .91 Turbo
3" Turbo back exhaust
Stock M3 3.38 LSD
Kosei K1s
R154 w/ Stock PP and ACT 6 puck disc
TT Valve Covers

On the electronics side it is:

MS3 v3.57 w/ MS3x expansion
GM Flex Fuel Sensor
GM Lq9 Coils
7mgte Cam Sensor
Factory GTE Crank Sensor
36-2 wheel (VVTi Block)
Custom Harness (using the DIY harnesses)
DIY Boost Solenoid
NGK Powerdex AFX Wideband

We are currently trying to get the car up and running in batch fire mode while we work out any kinks/bugs. Currently the car is not revving past 2800rpm even with the 10k resistor in the vr+ wire. We have a few things to try still, but time is limited as I have a 9 month old at home!

Here is the car!

Yup, I will.

I was working on the tune last night with a fellow MS user. I will fire the car up and take a data log tonight.

Yeah! I am super excited to get the last few bugs worked out and get this thing inspected and boosting!

the 7mgte cps is hard to get a clean signal.

You need to play with the rising/falling edge and with the pot inside the ms...

First, try to figure out with the diagnostics and high speed logger if the problem is on the "cam" or crank signal.

I'm just running in batch fire right now as we work out kinks and such.

Nice John, welcome. Had 4 MX-6's, never bought a a--l Probe (sorry for picking) but they are nice cars. 3.0L Vulcan V6 iirc? I had 2 2.2's (1 turbo 4WS, 1 N/A), 1 2.0 2nd gen, 1 2.5 KLZE 2nd gen. Sold them all, miss those GD bodies, though.

Once again, welcome to the forum (from another newbie - new to MS and the forums).

The Probe generations were the same as the MX-6 - the '93-up GTs were all the 2.5 KL.

That is indeed correct.

Here is my last '95 GT. Gutted, no ac, manual steering rack, boltons, ms2.

Looking sweet man! I miss that about the MX6's, they just look so nice, even sitting still. Wish my '95 TA were running (looks nice, plus, added bonus, all 6'3 260 of me fits IN the driver's seat) but the XR4Ti will just have to do for now.
