Mercedes M104 VVT cont. or on/off?

Does anybody know, if the vvt on the mercedes m104 engine is continuosly variable, or on/off?

it's an on/off type

MS1 ms2 can control it?

Yes, just use a programmable on/off output triggered by RPM.

Be mindful it is only meant to be in the on position between 2500 and 5500 RPM though.
