Please help. Trying to make sense of EFI

Post by danbeck »

Hi guys
I own a 911, and want to convert to efi with MS3 and Im thinking EDIS 6 for spark control.
I am just about to buy the manifold with fuel lines. Obviously I need to buy the MS#, appropriate injectors, and wide band o2 sensor. Im confused what else I need. I see on DIYautotune there is a harness. Where does this go to in the engine.
Sorry for all the noob questions, but I really want to understand this and I need someone to break it down in baby language for me.
I hope someone can help
Cheers guys
Dan

Have a read of the Setting up manual. http://www.msextra.com/doc/pdf/html/Meg ... p-1.4.html
Find the Manuals up top under Quick links: Manuals. :RTFM:

EDIS and MS3 makes no sense whatsoever. An MS3 with the 3X or an MS3Pro can handle up to 8 coils. Plus EDIS limits the amount of control you actually have.

This https://www.diyautotune.com/shop/appare ... ise/books/ is what you need for a better understanding of how this stuff all works.

And does EDIS allow the high revs these engines can go to?

I'd be looking at later versions of the 911 for clues on how the factory went about things.

How high does a flat 6 go? EDIS is a handicap because it limits the amount of control MS has. No spark cut or rev limiters. Direct coil on plug is the better system. EDIS is just simple and cheap to setup.

Go to a junk yard and pull 2 sets of Toyota COPs. They are great.
