MS2 Jag V12 trigger wheel question

Post by warrjon »

Hi, I have a MS2 3.57 built ready to MS my V12 Jaguar. I have searched the forums and the documentation, with no answer.

The car is an 89 XJS with Marelli ignition. This consists of a 3 tooth TDC (for the RH bank) wheel on the crank damper and a VR sensor on the flywheel for engine speed.

My question is - can I use the Marelli trigger wheels for MS2 or do I need to convert to 36-1.

thanks
Warren

3 crank teeth are enough for the MS2 to run an inline six but not a V12. You could use 6 teeth (with a one tooth cam wheel), but you might as well swap to a 36-1 if you are changing out crank triggers.

Thanks Matt, I suspected as much, so I'll change to a 36-1.
